Holy circus balls!

Myself, Wez and V went to see Kooza!
Circus de Soleil's latest and greatest tricks.
Holy moly, it was nuts!
Photo's were sneaky so not spectacular but we had a great view :)
You forget what you're seein' is real.
People riding bicycles on bits of rope...
And acrobats that flexible that they walked their feet around their own heads...!? Made me feel very inflexible . whilst these girls can kiss their own asses I can't even bend down and touch my toes!
This dude casually stacked chairs and did a hand stand.. as you do!
T'was mental and awesome.
A last min cheeky upgrade meant we were in a box (thanks wez!!!) It was press night so there were celebs everywhere. Noone that I recognised but V was buzzin off it!
Royal albert hall, and a wonka bar
AND a golden ticket!!.. she wishes!

First time for everything

At 7am this morning I looked outside my bedroom window and saw snow.
Not full covered.. but the rooftops, trees, cars and sidewalks and were all dusty :)
It is my first sighting, therefore must be noted!
I've not been outside since.

Eat, Drink, Recover. Repeat.

2 weeks on and I haven't posted my new years celebrations.
From the 28th dec (feels like forever ago!) to the 2nd of Jan, Wez and I went to Derry.

The first day was Baps birthday.
Rather than drink ALL day, we started off with a fresh
walk up to Grianan fort in Donegal (how irish?!)

some just can't hold their horses!
Come evening time there was shots..
 and hugs..
 and dancing..
 and nipples.
For a day of recovery, we headed to the pub. (we invited the guys from Baps bday along, but at 2pm the following day, they were still at it O.o)
Sandinos is a local that holds a trad session every Sunday.
Random guys and women, old and young bring along their instruments, group in the corner, and fill the pub full of Traditional Irish song. It is truly awesome.. it scared my hangover, shakes and any worries I had far away! (I can't find my photo of it?! No justice in photos anyway, you'll just have to head to Derry and experience it for yourselves.)

Day 3.. Hangover recovery. Then off to bring in the new year at Keiths house!
More food..
 More drink..
more dancing..
 and 8am shenanigans!
These people in Derry can drink! They do not stop til the sun comes up. The sun would NOT come up!?
9am we called a cab and nursed in the new year huddled in Pajamas.
I didn't have a hangover as I had plently of time to drink myself sober. UK has changed me man!
So, I sat and took in the year as it was with a cuppa tea in our splendid accommodation.
On our last day, Wez gave me a mini tour
about the 'city' before we headed to the airport.

Awesome trip! We were both knackered by the end of it.
2 weeks of lazing, eating and socialising can really take it out of ya!

baaaack to schoooool..

.... baaaack to schooool.

Back to work to try and muster some cash to fund the fun and games of 2013!

The turn around of staff in the Aussie pub is nuts!! This gave me a few friendly new faces to meet after being off for 2 weeks over xmas n new years. Made for a cruisey return.

I also had training today at job number 2 today. No abusive drunks, no bullshit... instead I learnt how to make love hearts in a decent latte and did a bunch of wine tasting.
A pleasant 8 hours..  this job is a keeper!

Bewildering Belfast

I've been back in London a week, and have been procrastinating my next post as I've been unsure exactly what to write. I feel slightly under educated to accurately describe Belfast. As this is my blog, and not a school assignment, I'ma stop fretting and talk a bunch of shite about my experience.. as per usual.

After sitting, eating, drinking, getting spoiled rotten and blowing my nose non-stop for a week in South east Ireland, we went up to Belfast for a couple of days to visit Wez's mate Marc. Caught the train up the coast line to Belfast, nice sunny day!
Upon first visiting Ireland earlier last year, I learnt that a section of the north is technically part of the UK, and the rest is a republic. (no, I really didn't know) With that I found there's a lot of politics between north and south. This is quite unlike our 'Melb. rules, Sydney drools' banter.. some of these guys seem dead set against each other.
We were welcomed in Belfast by Marc and his lovely wife. Marc kindly took us on a tour about the place and gave me some local history.

It was a huge eye opener and a lot to take in (for me anyway)
I told him I didn't know what to tell my blog...
he said, be positive!  : )

I learnt that it's not at all just a bit of northern vs southern rivalry.. the north has it's own battles within.
Catholics vs Protestants, unionists vs nationalists.. it seems like a very 'them vs us' city covered with different flags, political murals, and a huge, dark 'peace wall' through the middle.

Belfast endured a heap of riots in Dec. over the taking down/ flying of a flag out front of this beautiful building. I'm no news report.. there's alot to it, so I'll say no more and blog the pretty pic :)
The peace wall is HUGE!.. goes for ages.
Long and tall, covered in some amazing art work. I found it to be quite intimidating rather than peaceful.
I feel like it'd be very difficult for anyone there to move forward from their differences in time with such a prominent negative divide in place... obviously it has its reasons for standing.
It was covered in messages of peace written by passers by from all corners of the world. Although a sweet sentiment.. I felt slightly too removed to say my bit... wasn't my place.

The murals are amazing art work splashed onto the sides of buildings, along walls... again, beyond me, but facinating!

They then took us to the coast line to see the cranes that assisted the construction on the Titanic.
I had no idea that the Titanic was built in Belfast!?..
I recognised the cranes from a top gear episode. I just had no clue of their history before!
Pretty dark pics, but was very cool to see :)
There's a new museum in town.. they shaped it like an iceberg!?..
Super sensitive design accompanied by a shit tonne of fairy lights

All in all Belfast was educational and enjoyable!
Once again we were very spoiled, company was delightful.
Happy days!

Majority of us folk in Aus have NO clue how lucky we are.
Don't call us young and free for nothin'!
