2 whole years!

2 years today since I made my journey to London.
My one way ticketed, independent voyage of self discovery!
Ha!
I had no idea.

I enjoy it here for the most.
Everytime I take a bus through the city, I get a little "I'm in London!?" buzz.
My job is tiresome, the pay sucks and the 20min breaks are bullshit. But it gets me by for now, so it's Ok. I have a year full of festivals and fun ahead of me.. makes it all worth it.

My aunt asked me today if I've stopped to take in my trip home over xmas.. What trip you say!? Exactly. I haven't had time to blog it.. to take it in.. heh!? Right.
I don't know that I've stopped to take in the last 2 years. I'm sitting here doin' a quick post before bed, post gig, work in 6 hours. O.o Oigh.

London for me to date is...
Expensive, overcrowded, foreign, cold, busy..
Entertaining, convenient, bustling, beautiful (in it's unique English way!)
Above all London's been the path to my best mate. It's not an everlasting affair, me and London. But I am lucky to have landed on 2 feet with Wez by my side. Interested to see where the road leads from here!

So yeah, no complaints. (except the shitty weather, but that's standard)
I miss Aus dearly, but life here is grand. Feeling content with the past 2 years of mayhem, looking forward to what comes next.

'Straya day

My first UK, Aussie day experience last year consisted of a 16 hour shift in sweat city SheBu Walkie. I didn't work so much as survived as we made 90thousand pounds in one day.
This year, I partied instead! Took the day off work.. and the following day for pre-emptive recovery.

I woke up to the rainiest, miserable weather I've seen thus far this year. Very un-Australian!
After getting home at 5am from work, I rolled my arse out of bed at 11am and made my way in to town.

Myself and Kel (a fellow Walkie survivor) checkout out bar number one. It was overcrowded, out of the way, and did I mention overcrowded! Filled with VB drinking loud mouths. A few vodkas and we jumped on a bus to Clapham. Aussie party central.

The bus ride was an unexpected delight. Ever in London? Ride the 88.. It's a free tour! Through Picadilly circus, past Trafalgar square and up through Westminster. Even in the rain, it was pretty awesome.

It was a great day/night filled with wasted Aussies, Triple J, cheap fake tattoos and dancing.
Hangover of champions today. Glad I took it off!

I got older

Waiting on the plane to Aus realising I haven't blogged my birthday or my last trip to Ireland. Here's what you missed on my bday... Cheese, fairy bread and pajama day. Was a lovely chilled out day with the wife. I also bought myself a microwave! Gettin old!

All good things must come to an end

On my first trip to London via the sandy beaches of west coast of Aus,
we started our journey..
We took our first ever London bus trip together..
New years of 2011/12, we continued to move together on a grassy island..
Then finally we steeped off into the unknown together..
Tullamarine airport in February of last year.
They saw me through thick and thin, right through to admission of defeat.
They looked at me with their droopy soles and told me we still had one more go together,
but I gave in to the bin and said my farewells.

Holy moly !

I started a count down 116 days ago. It's now just 4 more sleeps to go in this rugged up, cold, fairy light ridden city !!!
C'mon 'straya !
