Longest day of the year..

...and one of the longest nights of my life !

Last week I set off to Stonehenge for Summer Solstice.
It's one of the few days a year you're allowed in amongst the big ol' rocks.

I set off with MattyD and a bunch of couch surfers to chase a 4am sunrise..
Lunch with the ducks..
and strawberries 'n' sunshine !
Made it to Stonehenge around 7pm.
Full of people drumming, dancing and chanting 'til all hours.
About 11ish.. the rain came.
It didn't stop.

At 2am I gave in to the sideways waterfall.
I convinced a few fellow soaked exhaustees to bail and head through the muddy paddocks for the bus.
We caught the 3am bus to the train station.
First train back to London .. 5.15am
Perfect!
A cuppa warm tea, and we wait...

'til we realised our bargin tickets were Off Peak. Soonest Off Peak train : 8.47am ! O.o

60-odd drenched solstice goers scattered over the station floor for 6 long hours
'til the 9am train.
By the time I caught that, and then a tube and the bus home, it was 1pm.

Putting it down to an experience I'll never forget for the wrong reasons !

Burning brick lane and bustling feet

Woke up on the other side of town thismorning after a decent night on the booze.. .
Only thing to do was work our way through Brick lane to the train station.

Tasty rib meat for Breakfast?
Sure!

om nom..
the bottle tells no lies..
Hooooly fuck it was hot!!
But tasty :)
Wez vs Food

The mission home continued into a bar,
then on through the streets toward the station..
Chiseled outta the cement. Fancy arty-farty!
Beer bellies means munchies..
F&Cs in newspaper .. totally English innit!
We then come across a bunch of people and music blarring...

The was about 20 couples ballroom dancing around in circles?!
They were all taking it VERY seriously, getting completely involved with their partners,
complete disregard for surroundings.

I could've watched them for hours.

Guts

Checked out the National History Museum this week.

Von Hagen has an animal exhibition on.
Takes 'em apart, preserves them and gives you a look inside. It's all the actual animal. ek.

I managed to take a few sneaky snaps..
A camel .. sectioned into 3.

This is the biggest elephant I've ever seen! It's brain and nervous system are on the floor.
You can't comprehend the size of it 'til you see it in person.

None of the animals in the exhibition were killed for the purposes of plastination..
I did wonder as some look like they were in pretty good shape.

Facinating exhibition, the man must have a stomach of steel!
One day we may be able to see if that's so! He's dying from Parkinson's disease thus donating his body to science once he passes.
His wife has been tasked with the job of plastinating his body and sharing the preserved corpse on display as part of his Body Worlds exhibitions.

Logic to some, complete crazy to others!

I think we're all bonkers.

Cheeeeeap cheap!

Scored less than HALF PRICE tickets to a fest this morning

In two weeks, we shall grace an epically joyous lineup with our presence!

And to top it off.. a little Aussie splash of Jezabels.

I've got goosepimples all over..
HAPPY DAYS!!

Donington Downpour

This week just gone, Wez n I attended my first European festival.
Download. Is rock n roll, ya!
I witnessed the following bands although I don't necessarily remember them all:

Metallica     Black Sabbath     TenaciousD     Steel Panther
NOFX     Ugly Kid Joe     The Prodigy     Sound Garden
 Chase & Status      Devin Townsend

As much as I loved the music, the mud will forever stick as my main memory of my 4 day experience!
Most hygienic part of the trip.. @train station
a-hem!
Train ride done, we reach the bus, and I see stacks! :D
I got a lil bit excited and a tingle in my heart at the thought of home!
And then...
We arrived safe only to be greeted by unexplainable MUD!
My shoes were short lived, I purchased my first pair of 'wellies' and a proper raincoat day 1.
The ground looked like chocolate and felt like slippery sand..
We set up camp a hike away on a hill and Paddy pitched his flag.
The mud, the rain, the chill...
It was like this Thursday, Friday and Saturday!

AND SO.. WE DRANK !

This is a tiny slice of the iddy-biddy bit of blue sky that hovered over 100,000 people on the last day.

I know one other Aussie female from home (aside from my sis) that's living in London.
I drank with her once back home.. friend of a friend.
She found me amongst the epic muddy crowd!?
I nearly ignored the poor girl in pure disbelief.
Was nice to have a friendly Aussie accent pass my ears.
By the last day.. I was positively knackered!
Housemate Kev came for one day..
He ever so kindly drove us home after the last act so our exhausted bods
didn't have to treck home on a train the following morning :)

Mad festival!

RARR!

It has come to my attention,
 that I look like a cave-woman.

After being in the rain today,
and having drunk by a barrel of fire 'n' smoke at last weeks bbq..
the smell of my wet locks was worse than wet dog!

SO..
I went it in to battle with the shampoo bottle.

I am now a fresh smelling cave woman,
ready to get rained on and smell amazing.

Further to my excitement packed day..
I went and saw the new SnowWhite flick.
Despite the facts our Home & Away star made a shonky attempt at a scottish accent,
and they let miss 'I have one expression' take the lead..
the movie delivered.
I enjoyed it!
: )

Rock, Roll 'n' Roses

Last min tickets..
15quid for 2!?
Heck yes.
Off to the break my O2 virginity!
 Pre-gig-park beverages

Sunshine gone as quick as it arrived.

Top level, row P  >.<
There's no need for such distance..

Mini mission sat us a few rows back from standing.
Better!
Axl Rose is notorious for performing on his clock..
This gig was no exception..
We watched this blank stage for 2 HOURS O.o

By jeebus it was worth the wait... sensational show !
the ending was epic!

I scored a killer migrane toward the end that turned me into no-fun-nancy,
completely useless for post gig shenanigans :(

Minor hitch to a great night !
